The 2025-26 NHL season is shaping up to be something special in the Windy City. GOVX is honored to officially serve as a Proud Partner of the Chicago Blackhawks for this year's Centennial Celebration, honoring the rich history of this great franchise and helping to recognize local heroes as the Presenting Sponsor the Hero Salute at home games all season long.
HERE'S THE DETAILS
THE FUTURE IS HERE
Last season, the Blackhawks checked off plenty of boxes. Connor Bedard delivered on the hype as a rookie. The prospect pool remained the strongest in the league and key veterans helped steady the foundation. This season comes a big shift. Making note of the past, while looking to the future, taking the next big stride is the key focus. With Bedard leading the charge and a wave of young talent rising, the Hawks are rebuilding something special in Chicago, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF CHICAGO HOCKEY
Since the team's inception as one of the Original 6 in 1926, the Chicago Blackhawks have captured the spirit of a city, winning a total of six Stanley Cup championships and authoring a dynasty of dominance from 2010 to 2015. Each chapter of the franchise is full of heroes, hometown pride, and generations of fans bleeding black and red. For the 2025-26 season, the Hawks are keeping the celebration going strong with a series of ongoing fan experiences, content, and promos at the United Center.
THE HERO SALUTE PRESENTED BY GOVX
At every Blackhawks home game, the team honors the sacrifice of Chicagoland active-duty military, veterans, and first responder communities and their unwavering commitment to service. This season, GOVX has the privilege of operating as the Presenting Sponsor of the Hero Salute, which will take place during the National Anthem prior to the puck drop.
THE BLACKHAWKS MILITARY BACKGROUND
The teams ties to the military community run deep. The original Blackhawks owner, Chicago coffee tycoon Frederick McLaughlin had previously served as a commander with the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Infantry Division during World War I. This division was known as the ‘Blackhawk Division’ after Black Hawk, a prominent Sauk Native American and historical figure from Illinois who would go on to become the inspiration behind the team.
Originally, the team’s name appeared as two words ‘Black Hawks’ until 1986, when it was officially combined into ‘Blackhawks,’ reflecting the spelling in the franchise’s original documents. As a sidenote, two American-born Chicago Blackhawks paused their NHL careers to serve in World War II – Sam LoPresti (U.S. Navy) and Frank Brimsek (U.S. Coast Guard).
