A LEGACY OF SUPPORTING MILITARY HEROES
Not only have the White Sox honored a longstanding commitment to the military community, but they’ve also had their share of past players serve stints during wartime, including Hall-of-Famers Nellie Fox (U.S. Army) , Luke Appling (USMC), and Minnie Miñoso (U.S. Army).
Today, the White Sox continue to recognize those who’ve served through Armed Forces Day celebrations and the ongoing Hero of the Game Presented By GOVX tribute, where the team will honor a member of the military (active duty, retired or veteran) during a designated half-inning break at each home game.
- Each Hero is honored on the field and featured live on the centerfield videoboard as the White Sox Public Address Announcer reads a brief biography regarding his or her service to our country.
- Heroes will receive four complimentary tickets and complimentary parking.
