GOVX and DIRECTV Holiday Bowl Launch the INAUGURAL Hometown Heroes Initiative

They say San Diego isn’t a sports town. They say it’s all palm trees, beaches, and vacation rentals.

They say we didn’t fight hard enough to keep the Chargers and couldn’t have cared less when the Clippers skipped town back in the day. They call Petco Park a destination stadium and point fingers at the political tug-of-war that was Soccer City. They say a lot of things, but for locals and those with a military background, none of it could be farther from the truth.

In actuality, sports run deep in America’s Finest City – and so does the pride and admiration for those who serve. That’s why GOVX has aligned with the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl to form the inaugural Hometown Heroes Initiative to give back to the local San Diego military community, get them front and center for the big games, and celebrate their service during the upcoming Rady Children's Invitational starting on Thanksgiving Day and the Holiday Bowl on December 27th.
