Inspired by the vital role that coffee plays in helping America’s firefighting and paramedic pros stay energized during those long shifts, US Navy veteran and full-time firefighter/paramedic Luke Schneider founded Fire Dept Coffee in 2016. He teamed up with firefighter/paramedic (and seriously funny dude) Jason Patton, and a brand was launched:
FDC puts as much effort into coffee making as they do being full-time firefighters. They believe each bean is different and should be roasted accordingly. Unlike many roasters who allow the coffee to blend in the roaster while roasting, these guys take the time to roast each bean separately and differently, adding depth and complexity to each blend. Plus, it results in a nice flavor variety.
Take your pick from the gloriously named Skull-Crushing Espresso to their Original Medium roast, available in both whole bean and ground. Hell, they even rock a coffee infused with bourbon. No one will judge you for adding real bourbon to it. Unless you’re a firefighter about to go on a call, in which case not only will someone absolutely judge you, someone will also probably fire you too.
