A Special Memorial Day Message from GOVX

Memorial Day means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some, it’s the kickoff to summer. A three-day weekend to grill like crazy, crack open some cold ones, and spend quality time with those we hold close. For others, the holiday can be a somber one. A day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure we have the freedom to celebrate safely in our own backyards. For us at GOVX, it’s a little bit of both.

It’s also about as American as you can get. It means something. No matter how many burgers are flipped or how many flags are hung at half-mast, we remember the fallen. We remember their service to our country.

In many ways, Memorial Day operates as a proper conclusion to Military Appreciation Month. A month that’s found us recognizing heroes through the stories of friends, fellow servicemembers, and family. Assisting our May GOVX Gives Back recipient IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) by pledging to #GoSilent at 3pm on Memorial Day in remembrance of those lost, and spotlighting the Navy SEAL-founded Jocko Fuel right here on the blog.
